UND STUDENTS CAN TALK ABOUT DATE RAPE TODAY HELP IS AVAILABLE
Herald staff writer
As part of student orientation this afternoon, Donna Oltmanns, UND's Women's Center Coordinator, and others will present "Realities That Will Never Happen to Me."
"The facilitators are to address the topics of date rape, sexuality and alcohol use. We'll have teams debating against each other. It's an exercise to talk about these issues, and raise consciousness. Then we'll pass out a brochure from UND to let people know that this does happen at UND and you need to use responsible decision making in your life.
The 15-minute session will be done five times at the top of the hour between 1 and 5 p.m. in UND's Hystop Sports Center multipurpose room. It's for any new or returning UND students.
Oltmanns says there are interns in her office to give free counseling to students. "If any one's dealing with these issues, they are certainly free to come in." Oltmanns, who worked for two years at the Abuse and Rape Crisis Center downtown, can be reached at: 777-4300.
