ED BOARD REJECTS TUITION
WAIVERS
A 3-3 split vote Tuesday by the
North Dakota State Board of Higher Education defeated a proposal to create
tuition waivers for the spouses and dependents of employees in the state higher
education system.
Despite support by staff and university presidents, three board members --
Ken Tweten, Marijo Shide and Jack Olin -- opposed the proposal. Board President
Jack Pfister, who was recovering from surgery, was not at the meeting. Members
Gene Martin, Darlene Leinen and Lee Christensen supported the waivers.
