Korsmo Quits
N.D. Higher Ed Board
BISMARCK, N.D. –
John T. Korsmo resigned Tuesday from the state Board of Higher Education because
he can’t devote enough time to its business while living in Washington, D.C.
Korsmo, of Fargo, has spent much of the last five months in Washington, trying
to get a job in the Bush administration. He has been on the board since 1999.
“His leadership will be missed,” Gov. John Hoeven said. The process to find a
new appointee begins immediately.
He said it wasn’t fair to the rest of the board, to the state university system
or Gov. John Hoeven to stay on the board while he is out of state much of the
time. The board’s work consists of much more than just the approximately two
days per month the board actually meets, he said.
He said it was better to let the governor appoint someone else.
