EROSION OF LIBERAL ARTS PROGRAMS HURTS UND

UND President Kendall Baker recently praised retired Arts and Sciences Dean Bernard O'Kelly for his support of liberal arts education: ``Thanks in large part to Dean O'Kelly, it (the College of Arts and Sciences) holds true to the commitment of the founders that this university should remain a stronghold of the liberal arts and sciences.''

Unfortunately, budget cuts and changes in academic philosophy are threatening the liberal arts.
